If we had a platinum deck package, this would be it!
The previous deck was an extremely hazardous environment with all kinds of No-No’s. We came in and built this family the perfect back yard space to relax and entertain with lots of shade from the sun, in this south facing yard.
Every single joist, beam and blocking was covered with flashing tape to protect it against water sitting on top. This will extend the life of the framing and giving it a fighting chance to last as long as possible, since the decking above, will last for half a century.
We covered this beautiful deck in Azek & Timbertech decking. Silver Maple made up the field decking while Dark Hickory (PVC) provided a nice dark trim around the perimeter giving this space a nice 2 tone look.
The top dark hickory perimeter board measures 7 1/4” wide. This extra wide board enabled us to centre our railing post in the board while still achieving our overhang over the outside trim pieces. Not to mention, looks awesome!
A cedar Pergola was added on the bottom level to provide shade for the seating area. We hung blinds that got tucked away inside the beams, keeping them virtually hidden until needed.
